Anambra to shut down 486 exams centres

Anambra State government has disclosed its intention to shut down a total of 486 magic examination centres across the state as part of measures to curb examination practices in education sector.

Speaking during the 10th anniversary of St. Joseph Academic Award for 2014, the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Kate Omenugha ,said the examination miracle centres had been aiding examination malpractices, especially during the West African Examination Council and National Examination Council examinations.

Professor Omenugha, while commending the Founder of St. Joseph Academic Award,  Bath Nwibe ,however, said that the plan to shut down the magic centres became  necessarydue to the way its operators had fashioned it to swindle unsuspecting desperate candidates for examinations.

“We have government schools and approved private schools that are saddled with the responsibility of training our children to become functional members of our society.

But with the emergence of this miracle centres, our children no longer study to pass for examinations, rather, they go to those places where they will be helped to pass examinations”

The Founder, St Joseph Academic Award, noted that the reason for instituting the award was to make sure that all the human resources given to the youth are all guided to become assets  to the society.
