I Was Treated Like A Criminal – Emenike On His 4 Nights In Jail
The former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has addressed the match-fixing allegations that saw him spent four nights in prison in 2011.
The 28-year-old was wrongly accused of pretending to be injured in order to miss a title-deciding match during his spell with Turkish side Karabukspor Injured Emenike missed a key Turkish league game against rivals Fenerbahce in 2011 before joining the same team two weeks later in a £9million deal.
This did not go well with Karabukspor authorities as they alleged the Nigerian faked the injury to miss the crucial encounter in which Fernabahce won 1 – 0, in order for him to seal the big money to the Istanbul-based club.

Both Karabukspor and Emenike denied claims despite club doctor’s report that he was indeed injured with the Nigerian locked up for four nights before being released due to a lack of evidence.
“My time in prison was a crazy nightmare that I couldn’t wake up from,” Emenike told The Sun (UK).
“I’ve never committed a crime in my life but I was treated like a criminal, living on bread and water.
“It was not a good experience. It gave me a different perspective on life. When I was finally cleared I thanked God for letting justice prevail.”
