Anambra-born billionaire, Sir Emeka Offor, has signed an agreement with Jimmy Carter Foundation in the United States of America, for a partnership to eliminate river blindness.

The foundation, owned by the former U.S president, Jimmy Carter, is already working in seven states in Nigeria in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health.

“The new resources from the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation will extend the reach of the Carter Center’s work in South East and South South Nigeria and help accelerate river blindness elimination throughout Nigeria at a pivotal time,” said Jimmy Carter.

Crater’s health programmes have been ongoing in Nigeria since 1988 in a bid to eliminate and control diseases in Nigeria with active collaboration with Nigeria’s government health programs.

“Nigeria has more cases of river blindness than any other country in the world. Yet, we know that with adequate resources, hard work, and perseverance, we can defeat this terrible neglected disease that can steal a person’s ability to see the beauty of the world in which we live and to enjoy a full and active life”.

Sir Offor is the proprietor of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation in Nigeria, a charitable, non-governmental organization founded by Sir Emeka Offor in the early 1990s  and registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act in 2006 to help people in need become independent and self-sufficient.
