Ned Nwoko Behind The Arrest Of HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko.

Our attention has been drawn to an online publication made by Bigpen online blog dated 19th July, 2020 and an article that was written by Dele Ogunyemi and Mathew Ochei of the punch newspaper, dated 20th July, 2020. Wherein a statement was credited to the Commissioner of Police Delta State, Hafiz Inuwa. About the Obi of Idumuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North LGA of the State, HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko titled: “Man parading himself as ‘King’ in Delta Arrested for Alleged Murder” and “Delta Prince arrested over alleged murder”, respectively. In the article mentioned above, several defamatory and false statements alleged levied against the legitimate Obi of Idumuje-Ugboko. Hence, it has become pertinent that we respond to these false allegations.
First and foremost, concerning the legitimacy of the Obi of Idumuje-Ugboko it is pertinent that we draw the attention of the public to the High Court of the Issele -Uku Division, per Hon. Justice C. O. Ogisi (Mrs), Ruling dated 22nd March, 2018, in the case of Prince Solomon Eziokwubundu & Anor v. Prince Chukwunonso Justice Oreze Nwoko & Ors, Suit No: HCI/38/17, wherein the Court held as follows:
“In the instant case, I am being asked to restrain the 1st Defendant/Respondent from parading himself and from being recognized and installed by the State Government. The 1st Defendant/Respondent having been crowned per the tradition of Idumuje-Ugboko, I cannot restrain him from parading himself as the Obi of Idumuje-Ugboko or being recognized by the State Government.”
In pursuant to the foregoing, it is, therefore, mind bugling that despite the ruling from a Superior Court of Record, legitimizing the HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko as the Obi of Idumuje-Ugboko, that the Commissioner of Police would state that the Obi of Idumuje-Ugboko is illegitimate because he is yet to get his staff of office. We, therefore, declare that the above ruling legitimizes HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko as the Obi of Idumuje –Ugboko.
Secondly, concerning the alleged murder charge, it must be stated that at no time was HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko ever invited by the Police Force for questioning for any Murder Charge. On previous occasions when he was summoned, he honoured such invitations. For the sake of clarity, we must state the events that took place on 18th and 19th July 2020 as they affect the Obi of Idumuje- Ugboko.
On 18th July, 2020 at about 1:36 am, in the wee hours of the morning, several Police Officers in 15 Toyota Hilux Vehicles and 1 Toyota Sienna Vehicle stormed the Royal Palace of the Obi of Idumuje-Ugboko. Tear gassed the palace and broke the windows and doors of the palace, and in the most inhumane and degrading manner physically assaulted the HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko and whisked him away to the CID Headquarters in Asaba, Delta State. Where he was falsely charged with orchestrating the death of three persons. After raising an alarm of this dastardly and illegal act, HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko, the Obi of Idumuje-Ugboko was released by the Police on self recognizance at about 9 pm that same day.
Early in the morning on 19th July 2020, several Policemen accompanied with the alleged nominal complainant (One Okachi Nwoko) again stormed the Palace grounds, this time with a forensic team alleging that the bodies of the victims allegedly killed by the HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko were buried on Palace grounds. After hours of digging around the Palace grounds, their search turned up empty. It turned out that the said nominal-complainant (sponsored by his principal) had falsely claimed that bodies were buried at a particular location at the palace to impugn the character of HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko. After the Police were unable to find the said bodies, they asked the nominal complainant about the whereabouts of the non-existent corpses, and he responded by saying “I am confused”. After their unsuccessful sojourn, the police officers signed a document showing that they recovered no corpse from the palace.
Despite the physical, emotional and mental trauma inflicted on HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko, which was brought about by these false charges and misleading publications, the Police are yet to apologize for flagrantly infringing on the fundamental human rights of HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko and the good people of Idumuje-Ugboko. It is, therefore, quite disheartening that rather than tender an unreserved apology for the illegal actions of the Nigerian Police Force, CP. Hafiz Inuwa chooses to further defame and impugn the integrity and character of HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko with this misleading and fabricated article.
We also wish to let the public know that the ongoing onslaught against the reputation of HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko, stems from his refusal to endorse the land grabbing agenda of Hon. Ned Munir Nwoko, a former member of the Nigerian House of Representative(1999-2003) (through his Company Linas International), who has since 2015, with the aid of his proxies and the Nigerian Police Force, instituted over 33 criminal cases on trumped-up and false charges against HRH Chukwunonso Nwoko all in a bid to force him to accede to the will of Ned Munir Nwoko to illegally acquire 90 Hectares of the Community Land for his private sports university so as not to have to pay fair value for the said land.
