People are shocked to know I was not born an Igbo – Lolo 1 of Wazobia FM

Multiple award-winning On-Air Personality, Omotunde Adebowale-David, popularly known as Lolo 1 of Wazobia FM has said that the shock people get from realizing that she was not born an Igbo works well for her brand.

She disclosed this in a recent chat with Obindigbo.

According to Lolo 1 of Wazobia FM, people typically express shock and curiousity when they realize that in spite of the vivacious ‘Igbotic’ nature she exudes On-Air, on stage, and in movies; she is not directly related to anyone from the Igboland.

She said that such shock and curiosity generated free marketing for her brand.

The ebony hued comedienne also noted that the kind of ethnic mix she possesses in her personality make-up is good for the unification of the country as Nigeria is one despite its rich cultural diversity.

She said: “Plenty people think I am Igbo. I am Igbo inside and Yoruba outside.

“My real name is Lolo Omotunde. I guess that makes things clearer.

“Being called Lolo 1 is what really sells and stands me out. People are shocked to know I was not even born an Igbo. They say this is Lolo 1 of Wazobia FM and she is Yoruba, I will like to know this woman. So, it is always a good thing for my brand.

“You know, I grew up feeling we were all brothers and sisters as Nigerians. I remember we had neighbours who were Muslims and with whom we went to the mosque; sometimes to Quranic School. But now things are different; we are beginning to see ourselves as different.

“Well, I just know that Nigeria is one and there is unity in everything. I am a Yoruba girl, but why can’t I have a little Igbo part of me? So, I am just being a Nigerian.

“But as far as I am concerned, our humanity is the same.”
