Biafra Day: Ohanaeze Ndigbo Issues Order To FG, Anambra Govt

In a statement released to the media yesterday, June 1, Ohanaeze Ndigbo accused security agencies of carrying out mass murder in Anambra state in the name of quelling the Biafra day protests.
The group expressed outrage over the killings of members of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the security agencies on Monday, May 30.
In the statement signed by its Secretary General, Dr, Joe Nwaorgu, The group stated that it was traumatised by the outrageous massacre of MASSOB and IPOB members which it described as non-violent.
The statement, signed by the group’s secretary-general, Dr Joe Nwaorgu queried why the security agencies engaged in indiscriminate shooting of the protesters and firing of tears gas canisters at them.
Part of the statement read: “We are traumatised by the outrageous killing of the members of IPOB and MASSOB in could blood in the early hours of Monday, May 30 and then in the afternoon of same day.
“The two organisations are sworn believers in non-violence. They say, and we believe them that were totally unarmed at the times of the onslaughts.
“Consequently, Ohanaeze calls on the Anambra state government to immediately set up an investigative panel to get the full record of what occurred. ‎
”The federal government also should set up its own inquiry to give the world the true picture. This is necessary so that justice is seen to be done.”
