Though it was gathered that the deceased desperate calls to the emergency line of the police did not yield quick response due to the inaccessibility of the scene of crime, the armed gang ran into the patrol vehicle while escaping from the scene.
The response team of the police reportedly accosted the gang members along the Oxbow lake axis of Swali and engaged them in a shootout.
A source said: “One of the robbers was shot dead while two others were arrested.
“One of the arrested robbers told one of the patrol officers that the leader of the team and person who identified the house of the trader for attack is a resident of the Amarata community.”
Contacted, the spokesman of the state Police Command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the arrest of the suspects and recovery of four locally made pistols.
“Yes, some suspects were arrested but I don’t known their identity yet,” he said.
