Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has urged his supporters and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to victimize members of the opposition who did not support him, saying that they should be magnanimous in victory.

According to him, the Supreme Court judgment marked the end of all electoral and legal disputes relating to his election as the Governor of Abia state.
Ikpeazu was however quick to accuse the APGA governorship candidate in the April 2015 elections who also had a fierce legal battle with him, Dr. Alex Otti of “obtaining a strange judgment” at the Court of Appeal.

He said that he was never in doubt that he would win at the Supreme Court and commended Abia people “for the enormous confidence you reposed in me by electing me to be your Governor” and promised to “make all of you proud to have voted me as your Governor.”
In a broadcast to the people, Ikpeazu said: “I urge you all not to engage in any acts that will victimize our political opponents for the choices that they made. I am the governor of all Abia State and I wholeheartedly embraced everyone irrespective of the candidate that they supported. If you truly support me, then you will not victimize anyone in my name.
“To all those who supported my opponents, I will not begrudge you your right of choice. If your desire was to see a better Abia, then I invite you to extend that same support to me and together, we will bequeath to generations unborn an Abia State that they will be proud to call home.
“That judgment marked the end of all electoral and legal disputes relating to my mandate as the Governor of Abia State. While we will welcome constructive criticisms and corrective opposition, we urge all not to engage in any act that will jeopardize the peace and tranquility of the state in the name of opposition politics.”
