Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige says his late father, Pa Pius Okonkwo Ngige is a man who lived and died on the principles of truth, equity, and fairness.

The former senator in the 7th assembly and former Anambra state governor told Obindigbo Magazine at his Urueze Alor in Idemmili South home that his late father was his best friend because they shared stories and many other things in common.

Sen. Chris Ngige said the most  interesting part of late Pa Pius’ life was that he loved Obafemi Awolowo, because of his free education policy in the Western region.

“My father’s life was a book of many of volumes where you learn a lot of lessons. There was not a day I did not a learn a new thing from.

“He fought for the voiceless, the helpless, the downtrodden, without looking for any compensation, which led to him resigning in 1958, for standing his ground against British intimidation.

“The man we’re talking about dropped his original name Ujokamma (Fear is better) and adopted “Okwudike” (Voice of a strong man) because he did not want to associate with fear.” Sen. Ngige said.

Pa Akunnia Pius Ngige passed on last month at the age of 105 years. President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to pay a visit to the Ngige family later today.
