The Quarrel Over President Jonathan’s Endorsement in Awka

320

When will the recent dust raised by President Jonathan’s endorsement at a mega rally of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) settle as both the Anambra state chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Ken Emeakayi and the national chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh vow to keep raising more dust over irrelevancies?

I wonder why Prince Ken Emeakayi would frown at the interposition of President Jonathan’s picture, Vice-President Namadi Sambo’s picture, and Chief Victor Umeh’s picture under the logo of APGA on banners, handbills, and posters distributed during the Awka mega rally.

In as much as politics remains a game of self-interest, I don’t agree that those posters and handbills were meant to confuse voters as claimed by Prince Emeakayi.

However, for chief Victor Umeh to have publicly upbraided Prince Emeakayi during the mega rally for denouncing the banner, handbill, and poster communication, Chief Umeh has lost some points. To me, Chief Umeh ought to have ignored Prince Emeakayi’s comments and allowed the people to cast judgement on the matter directly or indirectly.

Prince Emeákayi’s decision to take the matter to court is puerile and desperate. In fact, it is absolutely unnecessary. because Anambrarians and Igbos (in general) know that President Jonathan remains a PDP member even if his pictures are interposed on all APGA political advertisements.

The thought on the minds of the Igbos on the streets concerning  2015 presidency remains “Jonathan for Presidency again” irrespective of the party controlling their state governments.

Methinks, it’s high time south-easterners united and spoke with one main voice on the issue of 2015 presidency as anothe genral election year draws nearer each passing day.
