“Nigeria Will Break Up If Boko Haram Should Attack Ndigbo In The East”

The Anambra State leader of the pan Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Elder Chris Eluemuno has warned that the country will split if the activities of Boko Haram are not checked, and bombing and other acts of terrorism should happen in the Southern eastern part of the country, as Ndigbo as a people is ready to engage them and their perceived sponsors in a fierce battle that may lead to the end of Nigeria as a country.

He told a group of journalists yesterday in Onitsha that, “Let me warn Boko Haram and their sponsors not to extend their ignoble activities to the South East as our people are ever ready if they insist to engage them in a fierce battle that may end the existence of Nigeria as a country” he thundered!

He also said that within a period of five years from now, if the decisions of the National conference that made several recommendations to the Federal Government were not implemented to the latter, Nigeria will split.

He said that failure of the Federal Government to act upon the recommendations may lead to balkanization of the country.

The Ohanaeze Chieftain said that the conference, which looked into a lot of issues, came up with recommendations that would end minority agitations that often lead to crisis, warning that no arm of government should neglect the decisions of the conference.

He added that the outcome of the national conference should be subjected to a referendum where the people would decide the issues raised, rather than referring it to the National Assembly for politicking which he said may not be in the interest of Nigerians.

On the failure of the conference to decide on the issue of regionalism and self-determination by any group in the country, the delegate declared, “I want a referendum to decide the outcome of the conference. The recommendations may make or mare Nigeria in the next five years if not implemented.

“However, on the issue of self determination which was rejected for a more functional federalism, I still believe in a united Nigeria, but if circumstance warrant a break-up of the polity, it is to thy tent oh, Israel!”

“Igbos are not afraid to leave. We have made enormous sacrifices for the unity of this country” He boasted.
