Chinedu Okezuo, Emerges Winner Of Ford Ranger Odyssey Competition

28-year Madona University computer science graduates, Mr. Chinonso Okezuo has emerged winner of Ford Ranger Odyssey 2014 competition held in Lagos recently. Chinonso beat four other contestants including a female driver to emerge winner in the tough competition.

By this victory, Mr. Okezuo will be joining nineteen other constants from across Africa to compete for the 2014 Ford Odyssey African 4×4 challenge scheduled to hold in Namibia.

Building on the success of the 2013 Odyssey contest that saw ten South Africans from all walks of life tackle some of the continents most grueling terrain, this year’s contest is schedule to last for two weeks staring from September 8.

Speaking shortly after the end of the competition in Lagos, the General Manager, Marketing, Coscharis Group, Mr. Babarinde Abiona, who represented the Group Managing Director, Mr. Josia Samuel, announced that Mr. Chinonso by his victory has emerged the Ford Odyssey ambassador in Nigeria. According to him, the Odyssey ambassador will be given a brand new Ford Ranger to use for one year with free maintenance. In addition to this, he is also entitle to N75,000 monthly allowance for he fuelling of the car for one year.

Speaking earlier, the Group Managing Director, said that the Ford Ranger Odyssey event “is not a race nor is it a rally. Odyssey is first and foremost an extremely tough adventurous expedition. It will however include elements of competition where participating teams could test their 4×4 driving and mechanical skills, endurance, courage, stamina, perseverance and resilience against the worst that nature could offer.”

Continuing, he said: “Odyssey is a brand that will appeal to the authentic, adventurous, outgoing, free-spirited, as well as the hard-working, the professional and the bold and adaptable.

The main emphasis of Odyssey will focus more toward testing human endurance and adaptability combined with the fierce ruggedness that comes with the Ford Ranger brand.”

Unlike last year when the Odyssey travelled through 6 African countries, this year’s event will take place in one of the wildest and least populated areas in Namibia, the Kaokoland, in the far Northern Kunene region.
