The Governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Elechi, announced his administration has set aside the sum of N100Million for the completion of the World Trade Centre in the State.

The 10-storey Trade Centre was one of the gigantic projects inherited by Elechi’s administration but has continued to suffer some setbacks in its completion, THISDAY has learnt.

The state commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Ifeanyi Ikeh, disclosed this in Abakaliki, in a seminar organised by World Bank with Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and investment and Cooperative Affairs Commission, Abuja, in collaboration with his Ministry.

Ikeh said all efforts were in top gear to ensure that the project was completed before the end of Elechi’s administration, noting that the contractor, Edon Nigeria Ltd, has promised to go to site with his funds, pending when government would release funds for the project.

The commissioner, who said the essence of the programme was to sensitise the people on the need to register their businesses, also warned that they would deal decisively with any person caught collecting money from unsuspecting members of the public, for shops to be allocated to them at the new international market.

Ikeh advised all foreign and local investors to come to the state and establish their businesses because the state government has constructed good road networks, adequate water and power supply and security to aid in the establishment of any kind of business in the state.
